Not less than 10 persons sustained severe injuries on Friday, when some youths suspected to be supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC), reportedly clashed in Igopiri area of Nembe Local Government Council of Bayelsa State.
The clash was said to have occurred over party supremacy.
The incident was said to have caused panic among journalists meant to cover the event, as they missed Diri’s campaign rally trip to Akassa and Okpoama communities in Brass LGA.
Dan Alabrah, Special Adviser to governor Seriake Dickson on media and public affairs, in a statement said:
“What is even more repulsive is that this unacceptable standoffish state of lawlessness has remained in place since the 2019 general election even though the signs had manifested before then”.
The state governorship election comes up on November 16.
