A 14-year-old girl, Anita Haledu Ibrahim, has committed suicide over an unwanted pregnancy in Nasarawa State.
Ibrahim, who was a student of Government Science School, Andaha, near Akwanga, reportedly took herbicide to kill herself on July 11.
The Nation reports that she was impregnated by her boyfriend, whom she met in Andaha during the COVID-19 lockdown.
It was learnt that they became intimate, which led to her being pregnant.
The guy initially fled the village to Abuja after Anita informed him that she was pregnant.
However, he showed interest in marrying the girl when her parents contacted him.
Ibrahim, however, decided to take her life after her father, Haledu, beat her up over the pregnancy.
She was rushed to a hospital in Akwanga, where she died on Tuesday.
