Seventies juju star, Peter Akanni Akorede, better known as Emperor Pick Peters, who had bitter rivalry with King Sunny Ade Adawa Super King, Admiral Dele Abiodun, is set to spark a new one.
In a chat with newsbreak.ng, Peters stated that Abiodun was responsible for the misunderstanding he had with King Sunny Ade, after the release of Ekilo F’omode.
“I had a show at Ita Faaji in Lagos and Dele Abiodun was to perform in the same show. I approached him for permission to play at intervals and he accepted it. Thereafter, I left. But as soon as Dele mounted the stage, he rendered the war song, Ojebi Ojebi Omode/ Awa Ole Sinmi Ote Rara,” he said.
Peters said his fans became angry over the development and insisted that he replied him immediately, which he did.
“So, when I took over the stage, I rendered Ejuba F’omode Peter,Omo Eran Da? ( Bow for the hunter’s son, Peter. The hunter’s son has come, where's the child of the goat.?)
“As a result, fight broke out among our fans. Dele's musical instrument and vehicles were destroyed.” Peters added that after the fracas, Abiodun released an album with the same song that sparked the fight and his fans equally advised him to do same.
Respected elders, including the late I.K. Dairo and Ebenezer Obey, initiated a peace meeting of which only Peters honoured. “After that, I went into the studio to record Ode Mati P'ogidan S'oko.
When newsbreak.ng contacted Abiodun, he described Peters as a pathological liar. “I don’t want to be dragged into any controversy with Pick Peters. I will throw more light on the issue in my next album.
