As a measure aimed at containing the spread of the ebola Virus Disease, EVD, in the country, the United States Government, Sunday, donated additional screening equipment to be used at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMA, Lagos. The equipment, an Infrared Thermometer, otherwise known as Non-Contact Thermometers, is a hand-held device that can measure body temperature and detect Ebola virus from a safe distance.
Presenting the equipment, Mr. Joff Hawkins, US Consul-General in Nigeria said he was satisfied with the Nigerian Government’s response to the virus. He said the US was ready in assisting Nigeria to stem out the disease. He clarified that the disease was neither a Nigerian nor West-African problem, but a problem to humanity as a whole.
General Manager, Corporate Communication of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, Yakubu Dati, expressed gratitude to the American government for the gesture.
