Despite suspending its 64-day strike, Federal Government disagreements with medical doctors and dentists in government-owned hospitals are far from over.

Speaking to journalists, on Wednesday, Minister for Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu, said that the suspension of residency programmes in federal hospitals would remain.

The doctors’ umbrella body few days ago got a court relief barring government from sacking them.

Due to unmet demands, the doctors’ umbrella body, the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, had called its members out on a strike action two months ago.
