LASU To Get N1.3 Billion TET Fund

The Vice Chancellor, Lagos State University, Professor John Obafunwa, has said the N1.3 billion education intervention fund from the Federal Government will be used to upgrade infrastructure in the institution. The emergency fund, known as Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TET Fund, was created to finance capital projects in the various tertiary institutions in the country.    Obafunwa said the university management would spend the money on renovating classrooms, hostels and lecture theatres. He said the fund will complement similar projects either already begun or completed by the Lagos State Government.

He listed projects undertaken by the state government in the last two-and-a-half years to include

Students’ Arcade, a twin lecture theatre in the Faculty of Law, the Senate Building, Central Library, Faculty of Science Complex, and the Lagos HOMS located outside the university campus.

He also stated that the government has approved tentatively construction of ten buildings, with three of them currently under construction.
