A suspected case of Ebola Virus Disease, EVD, was believed to have been detected in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State. Premium Times reported that an unnamed medical doctor at Good Heart Hospital, in Port Harcourt, died of the disease on Friday. He was said to have to treated a diplomat who had contact with the index case, the Liberian-American Patrick Sawyer. The online newspaper quoted a government source who confirmed the disease had hit the state. The undisclosed doctor allegedly claimed 70 people were suspected to have had contact with the case and been quarantined. No official confirmation was given, as the paper claimed it could not reach the state Commissioner for Information, Ibn Semenitari.
