Manchester United FC are making frantic moves to put some high-earning fringe players in its squad on loan transfers before the window closes on Monday. Danny Welbeck, Luis Nani, Ashley Young, Javier Hernández, Anderson, Shinji Kagawa and Tom Cleverley are some of the players purportedly on the chop board. United Coach, Louis van Gaal, has his eyes on Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho, and Ajax’s Daley Blind, who would both cost the club £24m and £18m respectively.
It has been arithmetic shows that if United sold Welbeck, Young, Hernández, Anderson, Kagawa and Cleverley before the end of the transfer window, they would save a total of £463,000 a week. The figure could be higher to about £646,000 a week, with the possible departures of Nani and Fellaini in the future.
Presently, the pay roll shows Young pocketing £115,000 a week, £11.9m salary over the final two years of his deal; Hernández, £88,000 a week and £9.15m over his remaining two years loan deal; Anderson, £80,000 a-week, £4.16m until his deal ends next summer, and Kagawa, £70,000 a week, among others. By shedding off the salary weight, Manchester United will recoup as much money it could get to offset the new club entrant Angel di Maria’s, who will be earning £59m, playing for the Red Devils.
