President Goodluck Jonathan has congratulated Nigeria’s under-20 female football team, the Falconets for scaling through to the finals of the ongoing FIFA tournament in Canada. In a statement issued in Abuja by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Reuben Abati, Mr. Jonathan called the falconets’ 6-2 victory against North Korea a “scintillating display.”
The President also urged the team “to put in their very best effort to win’ the tournament for Nigeria and Africa. Should the team succeeds in their campaign, when they meet with Germany on Sunday, it will be the first time an African team will win the age-grade competition.
He added that the players and their handlers are backed by the Federal Government and being prayed for.
