2015: Police Reads Riot Act To Corrupt Candidates

As the countdown to the 2015 general elections draw nearer, acting Inspector General of Police Suleiman Abba has stated in clear terms political parties’ candidates with criminal records will be disenfranchised.

Abba gave the warning Wednesday during a meeting with Deputy Inspector-Generals, Assistant Inspector General and Command Commissioners of Police ahead of the 2015 general elections.

On how this could be achieved he said that the Force would collaborate with the Department of State Security, DSS to carry out the task, adding that he had made adequate security arrangements for all activities leading to the elections, including party primaries, conventions, and campaigns by parties and their candidates.

He explained that electoral materials would be well protected ahead of the elections, and accompanied to the polling units, noting that the police would also protect the results.
