The All Progressives Congress, APC, has lashed out at Chief Tom Ikimi, who recently ditched the party for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. Speaking at a Channels television programme, on Sunday, monitored by newsbreak.ng in Lagos, APC National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed said the party fasted and prayed for Ikimi’s exit. Mohammed described as “absolute bunkum” the fuss created by Ikimi’s exit. “I don’t know why there is so much noise about his exit,” Mohammed said. He also claimed that Ikimi did not constitute a power bloc in the APC and his exit would not affect the party’s electoral fortunes in the future. Ikimi, served as the Coordinating Chairman of the Merger among the component political parties that formed the APC. Ikimi accused former Governor of Lagos, Bola Tinubu, of manipulating the party’s convention to prevent him from emerging National Chairman. Mr. John Oyegun, a former governor of Edo State, emerged the party’s chairman instead.
