Atiku Congratulates Bindow Jibrilla On Winning APC Primaries

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has congratulated Senator Bindo Jibrilla, over his emergence as the governorship candidate of the party in the October 11 governorship election in Adamawa State.

Bindow was declared winner of the primary election having polled 2,718 votes to defeat his closest rival, Alhaji Ibrahim Mijinyawa Yayaji, 2268.

Yayaji was seen as the preferred choice of Atiku, while supporters of former Governor Murtala Nyako backed Senator Bindow.

Bindow and PDP’s Umaru Fintiri both from Adamawa North Senatorial district, will square up at the governorship election.

In a press statement, the party noted that Adamawa APC had by the conduct of the primaries signalled its intention to work together to wrestle power from the PDP in the state.

Atiku who cast his vote in Jada Ward 1 in Jada Local Government Area of Adamawa, urged other contestants to rally support for Senator Bindow in the interest of party unity and for the dislodgment of PDP in the state.

The Turaki Adamawa said that as a democrat, he has accepted the result of the APC primaries and call on party members to follow suit.

"As a democrat, I accept the outcome and ask all party members in the state to do the same. As members of a truly democratic party, the outcome of the election is binding on all party members and we must all work to pull our support behind the flag-bearer of our great party during the governorship election.

Atiku stressed that the APC primaries in Adamawa State was not a personality contest, but a rescue mission, which will pave the way for the transformation and economic development of the state and the wellbeing of its citizens.

He added that the APC is on a mission which all patriots and friends of the state must be a part of by ensuring victory for the APC in the October 11 election.
