The annual report of an American church has revealed that it collected $50m in tithes and offerings, but spent only 9% of the sum on the poor. NewSpring Church in Greenwood, South Carolina, according to its own figures, collected $50,785,156.00 in tithes and offering. The remaining $45,70664.04, the church said, was gulped by
operational expenses and salaries. In 2013, the church, according to the report posted on its website, spent 31% of that $50 million (from tithes and a stream of giving initiatives- on staffing, 36% on operation expenses, 24% on campus upgrades for eight locations and only $4,384,705 on clothing and feeding the less privileged.
