The ranks of those seeking to be governor of Lagos State via the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has increased by one. The latest entrant into the race for the party's governorship ticket is its one time acting national vice chairman (southwest), Engineer Adedeji Doherty.
Doherty, in an interview, said he is confident of bagging the ticket his party's ticket and winning the governorship election.
“This week, at Lagos PDP secretariat, I will formally declare my intention to run for Lagos state governorship election in 2015 on the platform of PDP. I have consulted widely and with the support of every stakeholder. I will clinch the party ticket,” he boasted.
He stated that if he emerges governor next year, he will initiate policies that will positively affect the lives of the people and described the incumbent administration in the state as one that is focused on cosmetic developement.
“They have been focusing on visuals, they have been focusing on what people can see, not things that will make impact. If I go through expressroads, I might see traffic lights but how will those traffic lights have impact on my pockets? How does it have an impact on my children? How does it make an impact if I am sick? It only creates ambience, partly security and beautification.
“What we are supposed to focus on is the long term plan. We should move into the decongestion project for Lagos state. The decongestion project is going into rural development,” he said.
Doherty said is vision is to make the state a leading economic, industrial and commercial destination.
