Ebola: Ogun Govt. Announces 8 October As Schools Resumption Date

The Ogun State Government, has said that all schools in the state will resume for academic activities on Wednesday, 8 October.

The Secretary to the State Government, Mr Taiwo Adeoluwa, stated this while briefing journalists in Abeokuta, the state capital.

Before the state government made the pronouncement, the leadership of the state chapter of the Nigerian Union of Teachers, NUT, had vowed to go on industrial strike if adequate preventive measures were not put in place to ensure the health and safety of teachers and students against the dreaded Ebola virus disease.

Meanwhile, the State Government said that it was putting in place a dedicated team to go round the schools to ensure basic preventive measures are in place at both public and private schools before the resumption date announced, to ensure that adequate modalities were put in place.
