FG Declares October 1 Public Holiday

The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Wednesday, 1 October as public holiday to mark the country’s 54th Independence Anniversary.

Minister of Interior, Abba Moro made the declaration on behalf of government in a statement by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Magaji A.G on Thursday. While congratulating all Nigerians, both home and abroad, the minister urged them to build a more united and virile nation that will be the pride of all citizenry wherever they live. Moro also enjoined all Nigerians to use the period of the holiday to reflect on the giant strides made by government in the development of the country towards building a more formidable country.
