About $600m is needed to fight the Ebola Virus Disease, EVD, in West Africa, says World Health Organisation's, WHO, Director, Margaret Chan.
Chan said, on Wednesday, that deaths from EVD has increased from about 400 in a week to more than 1,900. She stated that there are currently 3,500 cases in Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea, Nigeria and Senegal.
Also, the United Nations said fears about the virus heightened with the death of a seventh victim in Nigeria.
Experts have also warned Ebola could spread beyond the five West African countries that are already hit.
Special Assistant to US President Barack Obama and senior director at the National Security Council, Gayle Smith, said the EVD "is
not an African disease. This is a virus that is a threat to all humanity.'
