Gov. Chime Declares Work-Free Day For Jonathan’s Re-Election Rally

In his support for President Goodluck Jonathan’s 2015 re-election, Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State, has declared Thursday, scheduled for a Peoples Democratic Party rally at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, a work-free day. Chime enjoined civil servants, students, and private sector workers to take part in the rally.

“In 2011, Mr. President had a landslide victory in Enugu State. We will surpass that feat in the 2015 presidential elections. That’s why we’re organizing this rally to ask Mr. President to declare his interest without wasting further time,” Chime said.

Beside, there is a speculation that PDP members loyal to a federal lawmaker, who is opposed to the governor are planning to scuttle the rally. The said members, who are part of the State's chapter of the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria, TAN, will reportedly hold meetings across political wards of the state to deliberate on the plot, today. A similar meeting was held across the three senatorial districts, last Saturday.
