How Teenage Kidnappers Obtained N300,000 From Edo Businessman

Police in Edo State have arrested two teenagers, who obtained money from a businessman by threatening to kidnap and kill him and his two children. The businessman, who is based in Ekpoma, in Esan West Local Council Area, reportedly transferred N300,000  to a bank account the suspects gave to him.

Dissatisfied, the minors, aged 13 and 14, persisted with threat messages to their victim and demand for more money. The last straw
that gave away the suspect was when they instructed their victim to send the money to an account belonging to one of their mothers.

The Police was said to have asked the businessman to play along, and closed in on the suspects through the account detail they provided.

One of the suspects, a female, was reported to have bought a bicycle from the proceeds of their fraud, while the other planned to spend his share on his birthday party. The Police however declined to give the suspects’ names because they were minors, but said it would further investigate to determine possible connivance.
