The Acting Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Suleiman Abba, has ordered for a thorough investigation into the death of Dimgba Igwe.
In a statement signed by Emmanuel Ojukwu, Force Public Relations Officer on Monday, Abba stated that no stone will be left unturned in unraveling the circumstances surrounding the death of the late journalist.
The police boss expressed deep regrets over Igwe’s departure, who was the Vice Chairman of The Sun Newspapers until his death.
He said: “Dimgba’s death is regrettably coming at a time when his highly cerebral ideas and ingenuity are very much needed in the country.”
He called on Nigerians to support the police in the discharge of their duties.
Igwe was knocked down by a hit-and-run motorist while jogging in Okota area of Lagos last Saturday.
He was rushed to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH, where he died.
