With the release of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, electoral timetable for the National Assembly and Presidential primaries, the strongest indication has emerged that President Goodluck Jonathan may declare another interest for the office before 6 December. Although President Jonathan has not publicly said he would run in 2015, campaign groups of various shades are intensely orchestrating his popularity test across the country and in manners suggesting his interest for the office. With the 2015 general elections in view, the party, on Wesdnesday, slated its governorship and presidential primaries for 29 October and 6 December respectively. PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh said that the primaries for the National Assembly would hold on 22 November, adding that the dates were proposed by the party`s National Working Committee (NWC). Metuh said the dates were tentative and subject to the approval of the party`s National Executive Committee, NEC, which meets on 18 September. “We expect all public servants, government appointees and elected party officials who are interested in contesting any position to resign their appointments seven days before the commencement of the ward congress election,” he said. The party said sales of nomination and expression of interest forms for various elective offices would hold between 27 and 28 October. He said doing so would enable public office holders interested in elective offices to resign their appointments before October 20.
