Bakary Sako and Cheick Tidiane Diabate , scored in the second half to power a ten-man Les Aigles to victory in the rescheduled encounter. The Malians have now edged Algeria at the summit of Group B on superior goals after Les Fennecs registered a 2-1 win over Ethiopia away in Addis Ababa. After a goalless first half, Sako opened the scores on 53 minutes profiting from a Adama Tamboura pass before firing past Malawi goalie McDonald Harawa. Seven minutes later, Malian goalkeeper Mamadou Samassa was sent off forcing coach Henry Kasperczak to revise his tactics for the remainder of the game.
