Nigerian government has confirmed in a news conference, in Abuja, the recapture of Bama town, in Borno State, from the Islamic insurgents, Boko Haram. The confirmation came from the Co-ordinator, National Information Centre, Mike Omeri, who spoke on the military’s counter-terrorism operations, among others. Reuters had on Monday quoted a senior military official who also confirmed the Army’s feat in Bama. Reports had it that the military had blocked the insurgents from marching on Maiduguri, the capital of Borno. The military source, Reuters says, drove the fighters from Bama, 70 km south-east of Maiduguri.
