Three persons have been arrested by the Niger State Police Command for alleged murder and cannibalism.
The police alleged that late Liman Doo Mohammed, a 9-year old boy, was killed by his grandmother in company of two other accomplices. They allegedly used his remains for pepper soup.
The State Police Commissioner, Mr. Olusola Amore, told journalists that the deceased family reported the boy’s mysterious disappearance to the police on 9 August. Following the report, the police swung into action and eventually arrested Fatima Sarki, the boy’s grandmother, and two other relations -Zhitsu Aliyu, who slaughtered Muhammed, and Amina Musa, who cooked his remains.
The suspects allegedly confessed to the crime and were charged to court on a three-count charge of criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide and cannibalism.
