A man, Adetona Odumesi, has been remanded in prison for pretending to be a police officer. Odumesi, a former police sergeant with Ogun State Police Command State before he was dismissed, was arrested along Coker Road, Ilupeju, in Lagos, acting as an on-duty officer. Newsbreak.ng learnt that the 54-year old was forcefully retired having spent the mandatory years of service in the Force. He was alleged to have relocated to Lagos from Ogun State to avoid being detected as a police pretender.
Presiding Magistrate A. A Fashola of the Oshodi Magistrate Court, granted Odumesi N250,000 bail bond and two sureties in like sum after he pleaded not guilty. Unable to meet the bail conditions, the suspect was asked to be taken into the prison and the case adjourned till 21 October, 2014
