Police Want 5 Brothers Jailed Over N91.5 Million Fake Land Deal

A Police Prosecutor, Inspector Daniel Akpochi, has asked the Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos to jail five brothers who were alleged to have defrauded one Chief Stephen Ajose of N91.5 million through a fake land buy located at Lekki-Epe Expressway area of the state. Police said efforts at recovering the money from the suspects, namely Nojimu Alonge, 65, Mohammed Alonge, 60, Tawakalitu Alonge, 65, Dalili Alonge, 54 and Bariu Alonge, 54, were futile, thereby asking the court to charge them for stealing, conspiracy and forceful entry under the Criminal Law of Lagos State.

Providing further insight into the case, Akpochi said the brothers tricked Ajose into believing that they could assist him in procuring 125 acres of land at Oreki village in Lekki-Epe, for which the victim paid the sum of money. Ruling, Magistrate Adeola Adedayo, granted the brothers a bail bond of N10 million, with two sureties each in like sum, after they pleaded non-guilty to the charges read to them. The matter has been adjourned till 27 October for further hearing.
