Nigeria’s Aruna Quadri, seeded as No. 5 at the International Table Tennis Federation World Tour, tagged Belgium Open, will begin his campaign today.
Quadri, who is the African champion, will campaign from the main draw (Round 64) of the competition which started yesterday.
Germany’s Dimitrij Ovtcharov, World No. 4, has been seeded as N0. 1. Belarus’ Vladimir Samsonov, is rated as No.2 by organizers of the championship.
Quadri’s victim at the last Czech Open, Portugal ’s Tiago Apolonia who is rated No.23 in the world has been seeded No.3 and Italy ’s Mihai Bobocica is number four seeded players.
The Portugal-based Quadri, will tackle one of the qualifiers on Table Nine. Quadri said that he hopes to reenact the performance he put up at the Czech Open.
“It is true that I have been seeded at the Belgium Open but for me I like playing from the group stage. It makes me adapt easily to the tournament venue and I get warmed fully before the main draw,” said Quadri.
