Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State has promised to complete the Sagamu- Ikenne- Odogbolu road said to have been abandoned by his predecessor. Amosun spoke during an assessment and monitoring tour of Ikenne Local Council Area, on Wednesday. The governor thanked Ikenne residents for supports shown to him, which spurred his promise.
"When I was coming, I saw the bad state of Sagamu- Ikenne road, but by the grace of God, we will soon begin work on that road. If we cannot construct six-lanes there, we should be able to do four-lanes at least," he said. Governor Amosun said the four-lane road would run through the home of former Western Region Premier, and, later, leader of Opposition in the Federal Parliament, Obafemi Awolowo, and terminates at Sagamu-Benin Road.
Amosun said he was committed to the urban renewal project being undertaken by his government, promising to extend it to Ikenne, Iperu and its environs. The governor cited various projects being done by his administration in the area, and inspected an ongoing construction of a Model School in Ikenne town. He rounded with a courtesy visit to the wife of late Awolowo, Mrs. H.I.D. Awolowo.
