The police at Ejigbo area of Lagos State, have arrested a 28-year-old woman, Bola Shakaru, for an alleged attempt to poison her neighbour.
Newsbreak.ng gathered that Bola allegedly poured urine into her neighbour’s drinking water at 10 Sanusi Street, Ejigbo, Lagos. The mother of three, allegedly broke into Chijioke's apartment and poured the substance into the water. But unknown to her, a neighbour saw her and alerted Chijioke.
She was handed over to the police at Ejigbo division who charged her before an Ejigbo Magistrate's Court for the alleged offence.
Chijioke said she had a quarrel with Bola and afterward left for her shop. She added that after she had left, suspect allegedly prepared rice for her children, but her eldest daughter prevented her siblings from eating it.
At the station, Bola allegedly told the police that she committed the act because Chijioke was a gossip and had made attempt to destroy her marriage. She, however, pleaded with the police to mediate in the matter without it going to the court.
When she was eventually arraigned, Bola pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr. P.E. Nwaka, granted her bail in the sum of N20,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned case till 8 October, 2014 for trial.
Meanwhile, Chijioke had relocated with her family.
