AFCON 2015: Egypt Indicate Interest To Host, As Morocco Withdraw

Egypt has indicated interest to host the 2015 African Cup of Nations, AFCON following the withdrawal of Morocco over the outbreak of Ebola Virus Disease, EVD.

Morocco had earlier asked the Confederation of African Football, CAF to postpone the biennial competition over fear of Ebola but their request was turned.

With Morocco’s withdrawa, South Africa is tipped to be handed the hosting rights following reports that CAF President Issa Hayatou met with South Africa Football Association, SAFA President Danny Jordaan to discuss the matter.

South Africa was initially scheduled to host the tournament in 2017 following the withdrawal of Libya as hosts due to ongoing fighting there.
