Despite ongoing negotiations between the Federal Government and the dreaded Islamic-sect, Boko Haram, the militants it was gathered Tuesday ambushed troops of the Nigeria Army and killed one soldier in the process. A top security personnel, who craved anonymity disclosed that the troops were moving along the Maiduguri-Biu highway, when the militants opened fire on them. Although it could not be ascertained, the source said it appeared the militants carried out the attack as a reprisal for the killing of their members during the Sunday night encounter in Damboa. “Our troops were on their way to Damboa this morning (Tuesday) when the insurgents ambushed them. We lost one soldier,” the source hinted.
