Ceasefire Collapse: Soldiers Kill 25 Boko Haram Members

The resumption of hostility by the federal troops against implacable Boko Haram insurgents in Damboa, Borno State, last Sunday, has signaled the collapse of a ceasefire agreement said to have been reached by both parties. About 25 insurgents were killed as troops repelled their attack against two communities in Borno and Adamawa States. Besides, the cold-blooded beheading of six people along Biu-Garkida Road, also on Sunday, could have compelled the retaliatory attack by the federal troops.

Nigerian Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshall Alex Badeh announced last Friday that the FG and the insurgents agreed to cease hostilities due to talks bordering on the release of students kidnapped from their dormitories in Chibok, Borno State six months ago.
