The 19th edition of the CNN MultiChoice African Journalist Awards holds today at the Mlimani Convention Centre in Dares Salaam, Tanzania. This was announced by John Ugbe, Managing Director, Multi- Choice Nigeria. Ugbe said this year’s competition, which received entries from 48 countries, including from French and Portuguese- speaking countries on the continent, has 28 finalists from 10 countries. He also disclosed that some Nigerian journalists were nominated for the awards. They include Obinna Emelike of BusinessDay, Olatunji Ololade of THE NATION, Bayo Olupohunda, a columnist with THE PUNCH; and a joint nominees, Ben Ezeamalu and Emmanuel Ogala of Premium Times. According to Ugbe, the CNN/MultiChoice African Journalists Awards represent the premier accolade for excellence in journalism on the continent.
