A gubernatorial candidate under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chris Mamman was kidnapped on Sunday night by yet to be identified gunmen at his residence in Lafia, Nasarawa State, the Director General of Chris Mammanís campaign organization, Nawani Aboki has said. Aboki is alleging that Mamman was kidnapped by his political opponents, who are scared†of his political strength. According to Aboki, ďOur candidate was in Nasarawa Eggon as part of efforts by the Eggon traditional council to ensure that they are able to speak with one voice and have one candidate but as our candidate was approaching the place mob came out and accosted him and manhandled him but was later rescued. ďAll other candidates of Eggon extraction where there; Labaran Maku, and Solomon Ewuga but we donít know who might have masterminded the attack among them. ďEven after he was rescued, we were told later in the day that some unknown people came and took him away and we donít know who the person is and we are yet to make contact with him 12 hours after.Ē Meanwhile, the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Umar Numan, said he was yet to be briefed over the matter. He said investigations will commence when such report was forwarded. On Sunday, Mamman was in the palace on the invitation of the paramount ruler alongside Solomon Ewuga, a senator, and Labaran Maku, to discuss how to pick a consensus candidate among them to represent the Eggon interest in the 2015 general elections. They all escaped unhurt as angry youths stormed the palace of the paramount ruler of the Eggon people, on Sunday evening. The traditional ruler was hosting a reconciliatory meeting between three Eggon sons seeking to be Nasarawa State governor under the PDP which resulted in the youth, setting ablaze a Toyota Corolla belonging to Mamman.
