How Kidnapped Redeemed Pastor Escaped From Boko Haram’s Den

A pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Rotimi Obajimi, who was kidnapped by the dreaded Islamic-sect, Boko Haram ten months ago but later escaped from the militants’ den in Borno State on Tuesday, has told friends how he was able to escape from the hands of his abductors.

Pastor Obajimi, who served as a pastor in the rural area of Borno/Yobe Province, was on his way to Maiduguri on 6 January 2014 when Boko Haram militants abducted him.

A pastor in Redeemed Church told SaharaReporters.com that they were surprised to see Mr. Obajimi emerge from nowhere.

The pastor told his colleagues that he was first taken to Sambisa Forest, where he was tied down for months; he was later moved to an unknown destination and was brought back to Sambisa forest again.

He reportedly told his colleagues that his escape was made possible by a heavy downpour that led to massive floods which sacked everyone in the camps.   Due to the rains, armed men left him and others so he was able to escape and for days he wandered in the forest before getting to a village; where the military picked him up after narrating his experiences to them, they later brought him to Maiduguri.

The pastor was later driven to Maimallari Hospital by military escorts, who had his face covered.

Another pastor revealed that the senior military official at 7 Division has advised them to relocate the pastor to Redemption Camp in Lagos for his safety.

A military source at 7 Division confirmed the escape of Pastor Obajimi claiming that he has been fully debriefed by the military.
