Former Minister for Information, Labaran Maku, is set to pick the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship nomination form today, Monday, in view of next year's election. Joseph Mutah , his spokesperson, said this through a short message service, SMS, invite sent to journalists on Sunday. Maku will join 12 other aspirants to jostle for the party's ticket. From Maku's Eggon tribe, Senator Solomon Ewuga and Chris Mamman are equally contenders for the ticket. An attempt to mediate among the Eggon aspirants and seek a consensus, on Sunday, failed as angry youths invaded the palace of Bala Angbazo, the paramount of Eggon, where the meet took place. Maku's picking of the PDP form is at variance with the party's directive that none of the aspirants should do so until a consensus is reached.
Maku resigned from the Federal cabinet to enable him contest the election. He has been an ardent critic of the sitting Governor, Tanko Al-Makura of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who is also seeking reelection.
