An Ejigbo Magistrate Court in Lagos has asked that a female pastor, Chinyere Nwachukwu, be remanded in prison after failing to meet a bail reprieve granted in a fraud case she was allegedly involved in. Nwackukwu's victim, Amarachi Egekonye, a member of the former's church, told the Police that the pastor demanded from her telephone recharge cards worth N12,000 to communicate her inability to have a suitor to God. With no suitor still in sight at the expiration of the date the pastor said he would appear, Egbekonye suspected a foul play. She decided to confront her pastor and demanded a refund, which the latter did not heed. Egbekonye reported the matter to the Police at Ikotun division of the state, who consequently arrested and arraigned Nwachukwu before the magistrate court. Nwachukwu pleaded non guilty to the charge. She asked for an out-of-court settlement with the plaintiff. The presiding magistrate admitted Nwachukwu to a bail worth of N50,000, which she did not meet at press time.
