Mrs. Oluremi Oyo, former Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, is dead. Oyo, 62, died in London yesterday after a lengthy battle with cancer. Oyo was Special Assistant (Media) to former President Olusegun Obasanjo as well as President, Nigerian Guild of Editors. She hailed from Usi-Ekiti, Ekiti State. Oyo worked for many years with the International Press Service and the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos. In April 2012, Pope Benedict XVI bestowed on her the honour of Papal Dame of the Order of St. Gregory the Great. She is survived by her husband Vincent Oyo and children.
