The purported ongoing truce between the Federal Government and the Boko Haram insurgents again suffered a setback after sect members attacked Mubi, and surrounding towns in Adamawa State. The insurgents were reported to have had a sustained gun duel with Nigerian troops, some of whom allegedly fled due to intense fire. Residents who scampered to safety said some of the ground troops yielded their grounds to the insurgents due to ferocious gun battle. A report has it that the insurgents have hoisted their flags in the captured territories. Mubi, a commercial town, is regarded as the second largest in the state. Adamawa Governor Bala James Ngilari has asked residents of the affected areas to remain calm, while he assured that the security agents were working to bring the situation under control.
