President of the South African Football Federation,SAFA, Danny Jordan has stated that the country will not host the 2015 African Cup of Nations, AFCON despite pleas from the Confederation of African Football, CAF after Morocco pulled out from hosting it.
South Africa have been touted as possible hosts of the competition after Morocco expressed their fears in hosting the tournament following the Ebola Virus Disease outbreak in West Africa.
Jordaan on Friday erased South Africa's name from that list saying that the matter has to be settled between CAF and Morocco.
"AFCON 2015 will not be held here. That issue doesn't exist," Jordaan said at a press conference at SAFA House on Friday. "CAF must discuss this matter with Morocco."
If South Africa had agreed to host the continental showpiece they would have become the first nation to host successive events having hosted the 2013 edition after Libya were stripped due to political turmoil in the country
CAF have contacted a number of football associations across Africa to look for a possible solution to the matter, with Sudan, Ghana and Egypt among those tipped to host the event.
