A Liberian resident in Nigeria, Moses Andrel has said that he dumped his work as a driver with a Multi-national company for car snatching because of the meagre salary he receives at the end of the month. He made this confession when he and other members of his car snatching syndicate were paraded on Thursday by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Kayode Aderanti. Those paraded with him were Alhaji Mahmud Abdulakeen Tanko, 48, Musa Yusuf, 27, Israel Nana, 30, and 53-year old panel beater, Abayomi Adebayo, who changes engine and chassis numbers of snatched cars. Andrel said his salary as a driver was between N20,000 to N25,000 and it could not take care of his needs. On how his fortunes chafter he joined the gang, he said his income increased because proceeds from sales of snatched cars could fetch him close to N200, 000 a month. He said Toyota Camry, Nissan Jeep and Honda are always their target because it is always easy for them to sell. He said he is regretting his decision to join the gang.
