A tenant to whom three female policewomen were called by her landlady to arrest in Benin, Edo State allegedly spearhead their beating and striping to their birthday suits. The misdemeanour happened at Oregbeni quarters in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, while the police came from Oregbeni police division.
The said tenant was said to have asked the policewomen allow her bathe, which they refused. This reportedly drew sympathy from the tenant's neighbours, who angrily beat up and striped the policewomen.
Residents told our reporter that the landlady, simply identified as Okebuse, is known for frequently harassing her tenants with police arrests. She admitted to calling the assaulted policewomen on the affected tenant for not heeding the quit notice she issued her earlier.
"When the police came to make arrest, they started fighting the police. I ran for my live and hid at the other compound," she said.
The policewomen are reported to be hospitalised, while the state Commissioner of Police Foluso Adebanjo, vowed the attackers would be punished. He said some suspects have been arrested and charged to court.
