Unrelenting Boko Haram insurgents have renamed Mubi town, in Adamawa State, which it captured recently, “Madinatul Islam”, meaning the city of Islam. Premium Times’ sources said the insurgents had taken complete control of the town, mounted checkpoints and carry assault rifles. They were also said to have assured residents of their safety, their businesses’ and urged them to stay in the town. In spite of the assurances, residents are said to be in fear and sneaking out. Soldiers are said to have joined civilians in fleeing the troubled town, which is the largest in the town.
Four local governments, comprising Michika, Madagali, Mubi North and Mubi South are under direct control of the terrorists.
