CAF Disqualifies Morocco From AFCON 2015

The Atlas Lions of Morocco have been disqualified from participating in the 2015 African Cup of Nations, AFCON, according to a statement on the official website of the Confederation of African Football, CAF.

Morocco were to host the tournament but later asked CAF for a postponement over the outbreak of Ebola Virus Disease, EVD in some parts of Africa but its request was thrown out by the Executive Committee of CAF, who met on Tuesday in Cairo, Egypt.

The host country for the tournament will be announced by CAF in coming weeks. The Committee also confirmed that qualifying matches will go on as scheduled, paving the way for the qualification of the 15 teams that will  join the host country.
