Dangote Cement plc over the weekends reduced the prices of its various types of cement. The company’s managing director, Devakumar Edwin, said the decision was his company’s contribution to meeting infrastructure deficit, housing challenges and the transformation agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan.
“We recognize the need for an increase rapid response to the huge infrastructure and housing deficit in the country, and one of the ways of addressing the issue is bringing the price of building materials down to much more affordable levels especially cement,” Ewin said.
The price change, exclusive of value added tax, put 32.5 cement grade at N1,000 per 50 kilogram (kg) bag; 42.5 grade for N1,150 per bag.
Edwin stated that his company would evaluate his to suit the country’s interest.
