An All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftain Ademola Seriki Tuesday visited the Lagos State House of Assembly, Alausa, Ikeja, to confer with lawmakers on his aspiration to contest a senate position from the Lagos West Senatorial District. If Seriki got the party's ticket, he would be replacing Ganiyu Solomon, a governorship aspirant in the APC.
He said his mission include effective representation of his people and Nigerians. Seriki said rather than limiting   senate election to districts, it should be state-wide.
Seriki said: "It is really myopic and it is really barbaric for us to be having senate through Lagos east, Lagos West; you can't have people going for US Senate and saying New York West, New York East ... the Senate is supposed to be state-wide. I am a proponent of state-wide election."
He also blaming the executive for budget failures or inadequate implementation was not tenable because it is the duty of the senate to ensure the right things are done.
Seriki, one-time Minister for Defence,  defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, one of the composite parties that formed the APC.
