Local hunters in Maiha Local Government Area of Adamawa State have recovered the town captured last Monday by Boko Haram insurgents. It was also reported that at least 75 of the sect members were killed by the hunters. Online newspaper, Premium Times, quoted sources who said the insurgents were ambushed and killed in their dozens. The deceased insurgents though fled, but finally out-matched and killed.
Baba Dauda, a local hunter said they triumphed over the insurgents because on their resolve.
“We had to wake up and fight the bastards that keep plaguing our societies killing innocents souls.
“People should brace up and start fighting them, we killed many of them. We are not afraid of being killed,” he said. The killing of the insurgents have triggered fears of a reprisal by the insurgents. Maiha is about 25 kilometers from the cosmopolitan Mubi town, still under the insurgents’ grip.
