Embattled Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, has said promoters of President Goodluck Jonathan’s re-election under the banner of ‘Transformation Agenda of Nigeria’, TAN, are economic saboteurs who are merely protecting their wealth. He said many of them are indebted and should pay up their debts to the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria, AMCON.
Tambuwal spoke at the 6th year anniversary of Governor Adams Oshiomole’s government, in Benin City, the capital of Edo State, on Wednesday.
Tambuwal stressed that he and others accepted to align with the progressives to change the system.
He said: “We have accepted to join the movement of progressives to change the system. The system today is malfunctioning and has failed in several ways.
“You have to change a system that is not working. We have a cabal that has hijacked the instrument of authority.” Tambuwal said the people were deceived into voting Jonathan as president, stating that Nigeria should not elect a leader based on sentiment. He added that the people of the South-south region had nothing to show for voting the president and therefore should vote him out in next February presidential election.
Other leaders at the event, which took place at the Sam Ogbemudia Stadium, are All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential aspirants Major General Muhammadu Buhari; Atiku Abubakar and Sokoto State Governor Aliyu Wamakko. Others are former Lagos Governor Bola Tinubu, former Minister for Communiications, Audu Ogbeh, among others.
