Kano Govt Shuts Schools For Voters Regristration

Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwanso, on Thursday, approved the closure of all secondary schools due to the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration by the INEC and to ensure participation of students who have reached voting age in the exercise.

Hajiya Hadiza Habib, Assistant Director of Information in the state’s Ministry of Education, announced the directive in a statement in Kano, the capital of Kano State. She said allowing students who have become eligible to vote exercise their civic responsibilities was necessary. Habib also enjoined parents who have children in the boarding schools to allow them participate, while warning that disciplinary actions would be taken against any student who do not resume after the break as directed.
