Dolphins and Sharks both campaign in the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL while Rivers Angels play in Nigeria Women’s Premier League, NWPL. The three professional football clubs are owned by the Rivers State Government.

Players of the club say they have owed part of their signing-on fees last season as well as for the ongoing league season in form of enhanced salary. The players also claim they are owed two months salaries.

Two weeks ago, players of Sharks and Dolphins were at the Rivers State Government House where they were met by the deputy governor, Tele Ikuru who promptly pacified them. “The governor is not available at this moment but you have my word that I will pass your message to His Excellency. “In the next two weeks, you will receive some good news as regards your monies,” Ikuru said.
